A Pendant is a loose hanging piece of jewellery, generally attached to a small loop to a necklace or a chain. The word pendant is derived from latin word ‘pendere’ which means to hang or to suspend. Pendants are pieces of jewellery generally made for women, but there are pendants available in market for men with altogether different design. There is a market for male diamond pendant. We can find gold, silver and platinum pendants. One of the earliest types of bodily adornment is the pendant. Primeval man liked to put a tiny hole in a beautiful rock and slip a string usually made of grass or vine so it could be hung around the neck. Shells and other indigenous materials could also be used.

There is diamond studded tribal pendant and a pendant with a bull. Men can opt for alphabetical pendants and have their names or the first letter of their name on their neck. They can wear pendants which have astrological importance of which contain zodiac signs or images representing them. There are rhodium pendants for men also. There are options of real diamonds and zirconium. There are bling- bling and hip-hop pendants.
Gold pendants for men can be used for several purposes. Women use them as adornment and as for men they can use to show award they got, also as mark of identification as religious symbols or rock band symbols. They can be used for protection in the form of amulets to ward off evil. The many specialized types of pendants include lockets which open, often to reveal an image, and pendilia, which hang from larger objects of metalwork.
